...and the sugardaddy will lie next to the L.A.M.B.

Wow....Wow, Wow, Wow!!! Where does one start? From participating and watching some of the most innovative L'Oreal platform artists, to seeing a glimpse of the new Gwen Steffani fashion line, my mind is still racing!
First, no, sadly, Gwen was only there in spirit, but I figured that. Secondly, I did get to witness rock star in terms of the hair world. They had us doing beachy textures with deconstructed waves and braids that totally complimented Gwen's collection. The INOA color was a huge hit, and every single model loved the results (how often does that happen?)
One of my big thrills was to hear the model Tiffany and I colored (plus Tiffany colored her extensions beautifully to match) drew the loudest applause of all.

Another of my thrills was working with L'Oreal's amazing Maya Webb. She is a gold mine of knowledge, and you know I was panning for THAT gold! Because of her I feel I have come back with even more tricks up my sleeve to further assist Sugardaddy's clients in their roles as "fashionistas of westsound!" Thank you so much Maya!! She even had me color Kirsten Magrini, the head of L'Oreal's west coast. This could of been either a 'boxing with God' situation or a high five, and can I get a 'hell yeah', it was a HIGH FIVE!!

Marco, of Marco's 2 Union Square was the host salon that we prepped the models at, which was cathartic because Marco was the man I apprenticed under many moons ago when he was at the Gene Juarez in the Four Seasons, (he even made me cry once...once) so it was great to see him again and his beautiful salon.

The event was held at the Sky Lounge at the EMP, and what a cool, psychedelic space and L'oreal being the class act had an open bar. On a side note, some hairdressers really need a 12 step, just cause the hootch is free, does that really mean you should binge and make a spectacle? and no, this isn't a "insider" scold to Tim, lol.

Can I just give it up to Tim, by the way. That man gives til it hurts! From going to hand pick up the L.A.M.B. collection at EMP to making what could be stressful event into a seamless and flawless day, he never stopped!

We want to thank Kirsten, Maya and Brittney from L'oreal for making it happen and including us in this collaboration. Not only attending but getting us involved backstage. To Erin Pillo our fabulous Maly's rep that got this whole L'Oreal ball rolling! Our success is also yours. And thank you to our supportive clients who we felt there in spirit with us, and their happiness for us!

A weekend of Learning, Hobnobbing and following Anthony Bourdains footsteps

This weekend we had such an incredible weekend all thanks to L'Oreal's Kirsten Magrini, diPietro/Todd Academy and Caron White.
We arrived in San Fran on Saturday to high 70's and a mission. After checking into the Kensington hotel we followed Anthony Bourdain's footsteps right to Lefty O'Douls, and Morton's the steakhouse. Guess what, Tony know's his stuff. Both Tim and I were in hog heaven! Even though Lefty's ironically is a sports bar, the succulent roast beef for $12.00 bucks fed us both! And the Guinness; cold as hell! The food was so amazing though it was worth it.
Morton's had the best filet mignon ever, and our new drink for summer called 'cool as a cucumber' that involved muddled english cucumbers, vodka, St. Germain's, and ginger beer. If you are over at our house this summer, you will be tasting that! Thanks to Morton's Bar 12.21. Also of note, at another point, imagine Tim's bliss to be eating sushi in chinatown in S.F. MMMM spicy tuna rolls! with as many choices of saki's as one could imagine!
Oh and by the way, if you are homesick for Port Orchard while in S.F. you must go to the Gold Dust Lounge in Union Square. It will make you feel like your at Myhre's, even down to the red velvet couches, murals on the ceiling, and stiff drinks. Loved it! And a huge mix of people, not just one scene, just like Myhre's!
Then we met up with our dear friend Caron White and her beau Tom at Harry Denton's Starlight Lounge atop the Sir Frances Drake Hotel, overlooking downtown for, fuzzy champagne cocktails, then down to Scala's for lemon cream raviolli's and pear and blue cheese salad with the freshest rocket ever. For this diabetic I was running in circles with happiness.
Caron is the Caron of "Everything Coastal Blog" who we avidly follow and recommend on this very blog. If you haven't seen her stuff, or kept up on her coastal lifestyle, you should. Oprah, if you are reading this, or Gayle for that matter, you need to create a show on your new network for this woman, she is AMAZING! I get so jealous that I am not living her life!
O.K. enough about food!
Sunday was spent at the prestigious diPietro/Todd Academy where we learned creative new color techniques with L'Oreal's groundbreaking no ammonia INOA! From tear shaped cuts, color placement to be able to contour and thin down a face, to the wilder side that included mimicking the beauty of oil slicks. We were treated to some amazing advanced color techniques from this group and we can't wait to share it with you, so you can be the first on your block with some of these things. From subtle to full-tilt-boogie, we have even more tricks in our arsenal to keep our clients at the top of their game. From the latest cuts, to the blazing colors, we got your back!
This weekend was amazing, informative, and re-inspiring. This just re-ignites our passion for what we do and who we do it for...YOU. Our love for you drives us to never sit on our laurels and let you wallow in mediocrity. You allow us the privilege to be the stewards of your looks and self-esteem. That in itself will always be our motivation, the responsibility you have delegated to us. We do not take that lightly. So you can count on Sugardaddy's investing in MORE classes, and MORE training. Anything that keeps us at the forefront in Kitsap as leaders in hair we will do.
We would like to express our gratitude to Kirsten Magrini, head of L'Oreal Professionnel Westcoast, my new best friend! She made all this possible with diPietro/Todd Acadamy. She has been so warm, and open and giving, and we just want to express our gratitude to her, and to L'Oreal!

We did it! 500 pounds!

Sugardaddy's Salon is the "BEST EVER"!

Making that statement, it's hard to dissect what is the driving force that makes us the best.
Yes, our staff is the best trained of any salon, hands down.
Yes, we have invited L'Oreal to downtown and partnered with them. Bringing flagship salon status to Westsound.
Yes, our reputation is the best on search engine queries.
Yes, our clientele is diverse, amazing, and loyal. All of those factors are equal in importance to the success of Sugardaddy's Salon. (going on 5 years downtown!)

This food drive to benefit South Kitsap Helpline actually IS the manifestation of all those components. Our rocking staff did a superb job letting every client know that; thanks to L'Oreal we were able to offer a free full size product for every 10 items they donated to our drive.
And donate they did!
I told the universe I believe we were capable of 500 pounds, and by god, we got it! Not only in food items, but baby stuff, hygiene products, 2 amazing people brought in hundreds of dollars worth of Mary Kay cosmetics and shampoos for the drive. The list went on! And it keeps growing as word still is getting out!

Thank you so much.
Thank you to the universe, L'Oreal, the staff at Sugardaddy's Salon for getting behind this cause, and to the people of Kitsap county.

Kitsap has been so amazing in their response to us as a business, and their loyalty and support really defines what being in "awe" is all about. Without you, we are nothing. You have entrusted with us what you hold dear in terms of self esteem, your confidence and your abundant generosity.

We are the luckiest of business downtown. We Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
500 pounds!
Pat yourselves on your backs Kitsap, children will go to bed with fuller tummies tonight! It does take a village and Sugardaddy's is proud to be part of yours!

Last week for Helpline Food Drive

This is what we are passionatly fighting for. Help us fill the bellies of these guys. They are starving day in, day out. You can still help, and if you have already, Thank you so much.
Thanks to L'Oreal Professionnel, Sugardaddy's salon has been able to raise 300 lbs of food so far (our goal is 500) with their generous offer to reward those who donate. For every 8 items you bring we are able to give you an item from our rack of Pureology, Redken, and Sebastian. They are full sizes, from shampoos to hairsprays and everything in between! There is no limit, you bring in 16 items and you get 2 choices, and on and on til we run out! Please help us run out by next week. Please tell everyone you know, you do not have to be a client to donate, nor will we hassle you to be one. This is about feeding our brothers and sisters who are going to bed hungry now.

Anything you might have an excess of that another would value and make the nights warmer.

You have done such an amazing job so far, it is truly humbling, but we still have a big selection of products to give out! Thank you in advance for reading this and passing it on.

'Because Your Worth It.'
We have all heard that thru the years. Commercials, print media, etc. L'oreal has done an amazing job making sure that is a tag line that you remember. But what does it mean to us? As a salon owner? To you? As clients of our salon?

As of October 1st Sugardaddy's Salon took the plunge, we became a L'Oreal Flagship Salon.

One of my main concerns over the years with L'Oreal had been what had been ingrained in me; that any company that sells products over the counter like drug stores was bad, bad, bad! They were taking the dollar out of the salon, and how dare they! Of course there was the other route most other hair companies were taking, and thats selling their own line out the back door all the while screaming 'diversion'. Whatever?! From the get go, I was upfront with our amazing sales rep Erin, 'No L'Oreal' was my cry.

One day, I was ready for a change, I wanted more support from my then color line, in terms of continuing education for my staff, and it was just like pulling teeth. Erin laid it on the line. She let me know that if I fail, her bottom line fails, so her suggestion might incur my wrath but, allow her to speak and state the case. Enter L'Oreal... Do you know what sold me? It was her honesty about my concern about the whole 'over the counter' thing.

She said, "Look. L'Oreal's mission statement, motto, whatever, is that EVERY woman regardless of money should be able to feel beautiful about themselves. L'Oreal has products available for every price point, and they will not stop. It is about woman's self worth".

Wow! Honesty whether I liked it or not? No blowing smoke up my butt blaming 'diversion'? It was a concept we, as a salon are driven by. I mean, we give ourselves carpal-tunnel just doing what we do to make you feel better about yourselves. In the immortal word of Oprah "I GET IT!"

The second of the one-two punch from Erin was introducing me to the head educator for the northwest, who had a FULL year of classes devoted just for us already marked and ready to go.

TRUST FALL!

My opinion had always been I can make anything work for me, product-wise. No single company can deliver all the goods. Then I tried L'Oreal's Professionnel shampoo and styling products. For the first time in my 25 year career can I truly say I feel someone has let me in on the Hollywood secret. The results have not only been 180 degrees improvement from ANYTHING I had used before, and believe me kid's, I have used them all, I have never gotten these results without having to "work" for it before. They do what they say and do so effortlessly. The hair submits to these products like I have never in my life seen before.
Next came the launch of L'Oreal's new color line INOA, the world's first no ammonia color. This is a revolution for the color industry. It's like when they stopped using electricity to perm hair, it's that much of a shift in consciousness. Not only does this company want every woman to feel beautiful, they have spent millions to redevelop a system to ensure THE HEALTH of women. No other company has done that (and on a side note, I would love to take the time to welcome Gwen Stefani who is the new spokesperson for INOA! b-a-n-a-n-a-s!)

Our next logical step, L'Oreal Flagship. This major conglomerate has ok'd Sugardaddy's Salon to be the representation of it's company right here in downtown Port Orchard. What other major conglomerate has given downtown a second glance? Not Harbor Greens, not Hale's Brewery. It is L'Oreal, the company who feel's every woman is worth it, especially in downtown Port Orchard. They trust us and our skills to put their name behind US, Sugardaddy's and the people of Port Orchard. I AM HUMBLED.

TRUST FALL!

I did what I was scared to do and got rid of every other product line in the salon. You know what L'Oreal did? They bought out every other line I had and instead of taking it to some warehouse to benefit no one, they told me to use it for a woman shelter or, like what we are now able to do; raise hundreds of pounds of food for our very own Helpline by rewarding the donors. Speechless!

So this major company, who will now be an anchor for downtown revitalization has seen in us, Sugardaddy's Salon, the art and skill that is in alignment with their own philosophies. Puttting as much trust in us as we in them, if not more. The honor it is to have their trust is something we pledge to never take lightly or for granted.

Thank you L'Oreal, you have given us the jewels to say...
"Hell Ya! Sugardaddy's Salon and Port Orchard and Kitsap, we ARE worth it"

September 15th 2010 two chicks/one stage/one hellava night (wanna watch?)

Sugardaddy's is about to drop an evening that you can't miss!

DIRECT FROM AMSTERDAM
A reading from Jade's "Secretly Bound" as well as a preview
from the (as yet untitled) sequel by the mysterious author herself

ONE NIGHT ONLY
Jamie Nova, lead singer of Hell's Belles and Witchburn
will bring tears to your ears with an acoustic set of her current solo work
(she wrote and performed our wedding song)

Who is JADE?!?!

Sexual Reawakening

Passion vs. Obsession

Self-Fulfilling Prophecy vs. Self Destruction

Where do YOU draw the line?

Due to the sexually graphic nature of the storyline, if you think you might find the material offensive in any way, we suggest that you do not purchase this book or attend this event

Who is JAMIE NOVA?!?!
Jamie Nova is well known for her role as the Bon Scott/Brian Johnson of Hell's Belles when she became a member in 2005. Touring around the world performing AC/DC to fans of all ages she takes the stage with vigor and dedication to the music, she takes pride in her work and it shows.
In 2006 she joined Mischa Kianne in creating an original band Witchburn in which she also is the lead vocalist. Witchburn has been blowing up the PNW and just finished a grueling 21 days tour where they played 20 shows throughout the West Coast. With a constant busy schedule music has become her daily ritual, something she has dreamt about all of her life. Through all of this she still finds time to write her own solo music that she gets to express the softer side of herself and play the acoustic guitar as well. A solo album is in the works and she hopes to have it finished and released in the early part of 2011.

Why Would you NOT be here?!?!

Me? Speechless?

Few people can render my big mouth looking for the words to communicate with. Lacy Orser did just that. She just dropped off 40 items for the Helpline food drive. 40 people, four-oh! that's 30 plus 10.......forty!
Thank you seems so hollow next to that number, but maybe if I put it in caps? THANK YOU! Lacy, in this time of recession or whatever, and worrying about your own family, to do this just floor's me, excites me, give's me hope, (i know you'll laugh when i say Lacy, yes u can!) makes me proud of the village I am privy to! (she wasn't even picky about the 4 items she got for her karma)
Lacy you are a beautiful person, your daughter's have the most incredible role model in you, and let's not even get into your hot husband Ben......ok maybe alittle, People, he owns his own construction company called Sonrise Builders Inc (360) 271-8763 If you guys need any home remodeling, call him, besides meticulous work, the MAN IS EYE-CANDY!
Anywho, I just had to shout out this kind, wonderful act from this awesome family, as well as to everyone who has or is going to donate. if you guys believe in tithing, this is a direct way to do it, and it's local!
Thank you EVERYONE! So let's up this ante, the first person who can donate 100 items( and I will count) I will personally give a free color and haircut to as a insta-karma-gratification. This should be fun......let the race begin! runner's up will still receive a 50% off service coupon for me. This will expire by Sept.4th, 2010.

Human Kindness. part deux

Ok Sugardaddy's Salon clients, (or anyone for that matter) WE just dropped off our food drive donations to Helpline and saw how dire their situation was, so we thought 'what more could we be able to do?' and this is what we came up with...... Now for every 10 items you bring us you can choose a Pureology or a Redken product that we have in stock. This can be shampoo, conditioner, or a styling aid you've been eyeing. AND guess what, there is no limit, if you bring us 30 item's you can choose 3 items and so on.
If you have ever glanced at the prices of these things (esp. Pureology) you know these can run up to $35.00 each. (p.s. christmas is 4 months away, great for stocking stuffer's as well)
So please, help us help Helpline. If you have ever gone to bed even just 1 night without dinner, imagine that for a child. I don't care the circumstances that got anyone to that point, we are addressing 'that' point they are at, period.
On top of that, Tiffany is also running her own promotion for 'Light the Night', (see below blog) where she is donating $5.00 from every haircut she does to this organization.
Listen folks, You don't even have to be a client here, nor will you be inundated with a sales pitch to come here, just show up with the items, we will show you the products and you can pick and go, THATS IT!! how easy, so tell your friends, and let's see if it really can take a village!

Who Killed the Cap'n (it wasn't soy milk)

Hope to see you all down here on Saturday September 11 to help us capture the rouge who keeps killing the Cap'n year after year. We have a "feeling" something may happen in the salon that might help solve the mystery. Be sure to stop by to see if we have any clues. The local Chamber of Commerce seems to have a stake in the solving of this mystery as well, so check out their web site for more festive activities surrounding this most murderous event.

Looking Great never felt Better!

This is amazing! (we have the most incredible diverse talent here at Sugardaddy's I must brag!)
Alright so Tiffany, our resident hipster has survived this suck ass disease, or should I say, kicked it's arse, and is now making it able for others to do the same! She is donating a portion of every haircut from now to Sept. 24 th, to finding a cure, patient assistance and family assistance thru this non profit 'Light the night' (which we find doubly amazing in this time of a recession that she is doing this) so now not only will you feel fierce after she get's done with you, you will know you helped for this awesome cause! pay it forward people! lets help her raise a shit ton of money ! book your appointment now, or bring someone new in, the time has never been better!

Just a quick political link

As much a I feel it's none of my business what we chose to do with our own bodies... I just wanted to give you all a link to a (I think) important web-site. It's called Emily's List and is an information based candidate site. I am truly afraid of the future of women's health issues and I think we all should be.

Please remember... when one of us loses a right or the power of self-determination, we all lose.

Martin Niemöller

When the Nazis came for the communists,
I remained silent;
I was not a communist.

When they locked up the social democrats,
I remained silent;
I was not a social democrat.

When they came for the trade unionists,
I did not speak out;
I was not a trade unionist.

When they came for the Jews,
I remained silent;
I wasn't a Jew.

When they came for me,
there was no one left to speak out.

Saboteur!

There are haters in all walks of life.

So check this scandal out... as of 8/13/10 there have been 5,831 NEGATIVE google reviews about our killer new ammonia free color line, INOA by L'Oreal. The powers that be, off the record, say all have been traced back to a similar ISP on the east coast to a subsidiary of, wait for it... PROCTOR & GAMBLE, L'Oreal's largest competition in the beauty industry. Not sure where or how far this will go, but in the sometimes gossip-lean, dog days of summer, we are waiting with bated breath for the next rat-tail comb to drop!

Oh! I almost forgot... be sure to book your INOA color appointment soon.
As we all know, any press is good press, and this should help the ammonia-free revolution.
Check out the swank promo INOA video for yourself.

What do you think? "Does this forehead tattoo make me look cool?"

Not that I'm an idiot or anything, but...
What should I use this internet presence for???

Is it a direct marketing tool? A kind of electronic "Val-Pac"
Is it a "news of the salon" space to keep you all informed?
Is it a fun outlet for the "not ready for prime time" comments I always want to make?

Please post a comment here to help guide me through this dark moment in interpersonal relations ;-)

And hell, it's great shampoo, so you will be saving money actually if that works better than the 'fellow man' crap-o-la! THAT'S IT! F*CK YER GRADUATED BOB!!

It is official! I have felt this way for over a year and a half.

If you come in and ask for another... tired, dated, you-look-like-a-cocker-spaniel-when-u-tuck-it-behind-yer-ears, even Kate Gosslin has moved on... GRADUATED BOB, I will puke on you I swear to God!

Hair should be a representation of you and what you want others to perceive you to be, plus a little peek into what's on the inside. (fyi my 'healthy' girls, it ain't making ya look any thinner so knock it off!)

I say this because I love you and sometimes... sometimes the truth may hurt.

You want to be the ENVY of the other girls? You want to look so hip it hurts? You want people to know you have your head pulled out and KNOW what's going on in fashion or at least what's timeless fashion. Hair is part of your look, not the whole damn thing!

Sugardaddy's supports Autism speak's!

This weekend, Sugardaddy's Salon helped host the Autism Speaks Auto Wash (organized by our very own Rachel) The event raised over $3500.00 and included a silent action, a car show, kicking music (hello James Hunnicutt, you rock-a-billy babe you!) and much much more at Bobaloo's Bar & Grill in Belfair. This will be a yearly event so mark your calenders for next year. Whether you can give some hands-on-cars help, donate for the auction, or get your car washed, 100% of the proceeds go to Autism Speaks! GREAT JOB RACHEL! Book your hair appointment with her and she'll tell you all about it!
