The art of Balayage @ Sugardaddy's Salon!

OK, you got the look in mind, the magazine cover to show what you want, but why oh why don't your highlights (although beautifully done) not really look like what you had in mind. Where's the subtlety? Why are the highlights so pronounced? WTF? You wanted Giselle on the Victoria's Secret runway. You wanted LOW maintenance, not grow out!
Well Duckie's, I can now tell you why and your gonna LOVE me, cause this IS the golden ticket. Balayage.

Bally who? Balayage. French for 'to sweep'. This is the technique that separates the artist's from the hacks. Balayage (ball-e-ah-je) literally is the hand picking of and sweeping of color onto the hair. You can go from subtle sun kissed day at the beach to full tilt boogie boldness. From one color to many, the choice is yours depending on the look you want. The color placement is exact. Naturally.

Jennifer Aniston? Balayage.
Cindy Crawford? Balayage.
Kate Hudson? Balayage.
Jessica Alba? Balayage.
Sara Jessica Parker? Garnier my ass, it's balayage!
Any given model on any reputable magazine? it's not the lighting sweetie, it's the color service, and it's called Balayage.
From icy (cooler tones from smokey tones to platinum)
beachy blonds (think golden with buttery tones),
dimensional brunettes (rich chocolates with almond's or mahoganies) ,
redheads (jewel tones to fiery coppers) on and on, this is the real deal. Mimic summer effects and nature, bring light to the face, or adapt it to whatever style that best suits you, this is the service you have been looking for your entire life but didn't know how to ask or specifically which service to ask for.

EVERY staff member of Sugardaddy's has been trained in the art of balayage thanks to the wonderful educators of L'Oreal Professional (esp. Richelle Mclaughlin). After all they are the ones behind all the magazine cover's you bring in to emulate! The cost is yes, a tad bit higher than a conventional highlight or low light, $20.00 give or take, but when you see the artists of Sugardaddy's Salon at work and have the results you have craved finally achieved, you will realize it's justified. The maintenance of the service is much more relaxed so you save money not having a hard grow out line to contend with, plus it grows out so naturally! Every woman will be so jealous, and let's be honest, that in itself is worth it!
Just like L'Oreal's motto, let's hear it girls, you are worth it!

...and the sugardaddy will lie next to the L.A.M.B.

Wow....Wow, Wow, Wow!!! Where does one start? From participating and watching some of the most innovative L'Oreal platform artists, to seeing a glimpse of the new Gwen Steffani fashion line, my mind is still racing!
First, no, sadly, Gwen was only there in spirit, but I figured that. Secondly, I did get to witness rock star in terms of the hair world. They had us doing beachy textures with deconstructed waves and braids that totally complimented Gwen's collection. The INOA color was a huge hit, and every single model loved the results (how often does that happen?)
One of my big thrills was to hear the model Tiffany and I colored (plus Tiffany colored her extensions beautifully to match) drew the loudest applause of all.

Another of my thrills was working with L'Oreal's amazing Maya Webb. She is a gold mine of knowledge, and you know I was panning for THAT gold! Because of her I feel I have come back with even more tricks up my sleeve to further assist Sugardaddy's clients in their roles as "fashionistas of westsound!" Thank you so much Maya!! She even had me color Kirsten Magrini, the head of L'Oreal's west coast. This could of been either a 'boxing with God' situation or a high five, and can I get a 'hell yeah', it was a HIGH FIVE!!

Marco, of Marco's 2 Union Square was the host salon that we prepped the models at, which was cathartic because Marco was the man I apprenticed under many moons ago when he was at the Gene Juarez in the Four Seasons, (he even made me cry once...once) so it was great to see him again and his beautiful salon.

The event was held at the Sky Lounge at the EMP, and what a cool, psychedelic space and L'oreal being the class act had an open bar. On a side note, some hairdressers really need a 12 step, just cause the hootch is free, does that really mean you should binge and make a spectacle? and no, this isn't a "insider" scold to Tim, lol.

Can I just give it up to Tim, by the way. That man gives til it hurts! From going to hand pick up the L.A.M.B. collection at EMP to making what could be stressful event into a seamless and flawless day, he never stopped!

We want to thank Kirsten, Maya and Brittney from L'oreal for making it happen and including us in this collaboration. Not only attending but getting us involved backstage. To Erin Pillo our fabulous Maly's rep that got this whole L'Oreal ball rolling! Our success is also yours. And thank you to our supportive clients who we felt there in spirit with us, and their happiness for us!

A weekend of Learning, Hobnobbing and following Anthony Bourdains footsteps

This weekend we had such an incredible weekend all thanks to L'Oreal's Kirsten Magrini, diPietro/Todd Academy and Caron White.
We arrived in San Fran on Saturday to high 70's and a mission. After checking into the Kensington hotel we followed Anthony Bourdain's footsteps right to Lefty O'Douls, and Morton's the steakhouse. Guess what, Tony know's his stuff. Both Tim and I were in hog heaven! Even though Lefty's ironically is a sports bar, the succulent roast beef for $12.00 bucks fed us both! And the Guinness; cold as hell! The food was so amazing though it was worth it.
Morton's had the best filet mignon ever, and our new drink for summer called 'cool as a cucumber' that involved muddled english cucumbers, vodka, St. Germain's, and ginger beer. If you are over at our house this summer, you will be tasting that! Thanks to Morton's Bar 12.21. Also of note, at another point, imagine Tim's bliss to be eating sushi in chinatown in S.F. MMMM spicy tuna rolls! with as many choices of saki's as one could imagine!
Oh and by the way, if you are homesick for Port Orchard while in S.F. you must go to the Gold Dust Lounge in Union Square. It will make you feel like your at Myhre's, even down to the red velvet couches, murals on the ceiling, and stiff drinks. Loved it! And a huge mix of people, not just one scene, just like Myhre's!
Then we met up with our dear friend Caron White and her beau Tom at Harry Denton's Starlight Lounge atop the Sir Frances Drake Hotel, overlooking downtown for, fuzzy champagne cocktails, then down to Scala's for lemon cream raviolli's and pear and blue cheese salad with the freshest rocket ever. For this diabetic I was running in circles with happiness.
Caron is the Caron of "Everything Coastal Blog" who we avidly follow and recommend on this very blog. If you haven't seen her stuff, or kept up on her coastal lifestyle, you should. Oprah, if you are reading this, or Gayle for that matter, you need to create a show on your new network for this woman, she is AMAZING! I get so jealous that I am not living her life!
O.K. enough about food!
Sunday was spent at the prestigious diPietro/Todd Academy where we learned creative new color techniques with L'Oreal's groundbreaking no ammonia INOA! From tear shaped cuts, color placement to be able to contour and thin down a face, to the wilder side that included mimicking the beauty of oil slicks. We were treated to some amazing advanced color techniques from this group and we can't wait to share it with you, so you can be the first on your block with some of these things. From subtle to full-tilt-boogie, we have even more tricks in our arsenal to keep our clients at the top of their game. From the latest cuts, to the blazing colors, we got your back!
This weekend was amazing, informative, and re-inspiring. This just re-ignites our passion for what we do and who we do it for...YOU. Our love for you drives us to never sit on our laurels and let you wallow in mediocrity. You allow us the privilege to be the stewards of your looks and self-esteem. That in itself will always be our motivation, the responsibility you have delegated to us. We do not take that lightly. So you can count on Sugardaddy's investing in MORE classes, and MORE training. Anything that keeps us at the forefront in Kitsap as leaders in hair we will do.
We would like to express our gratitude to Kirsten Magrini, head of L'Oreal Professionnel Westcoast, my new best friend! She made all this possible with diPietro/Todd Acadamy. She has been so warm, and open and giving, and we just want to express our gratitude to her, and to L'Oreal!

We did it! 500 pounds!

Sugardaddy's Salon is the "BEST EVER"!

Making that statement, it's hard to dissect what is the driving force that makes us the best.
Yes, our staff is the best trained of any salon, hands down.
Yes, we have invited L'Oreal to downtown and partnered with them. Bringing flagship salon status to Westsound.
Yes, our reputation is the best on search engine queries.
Yes, our clientele is diverse, amazing, and loyal. All of those factors are equal in importance to the success of Sugardaddy's Salon. (going on 5 years downtown!)

This food drive to benefit South Kitsap Helpline actually IS the manifestation of all those components. Our rocking staff did a superb job letting every client know that; thanks to L'Oreal we were able to offer a free full size product for every 10 items they donated to our drive.
And donate they did!
I told the universe I believe we were capable of 500 pounds, and by god, we got it! Not only in food items, but baby stuff, hygiene products, 2 amazing people brought in hundreds of dollars worth of Mary Kay cosmetics and shampoos for the drive. The list went on! And it keeps growing as word still is getting out!

Thank you so much.
Thank you to the universe, L'Oreal, the staff at Sugardaddy's Salon for getting behind this cause, and to the people of Kitsap county.

Kitsap has been so amazing in their response to us as a business, and their loyalty and support really defines what being in "awe" is all about. Without you, we are nothing. You have entrusted with us what you hold dear in terms of self esteem, your confidence and your abundant generosity.

We are the luckiest of business downtown. We Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
500 pounds!
Pat yourselves on your backs Kitsap, children will go to bed with fuller tummies tonight! It does take a village and Sugardaddy's is proud to be part of yours!
